Welcome to Lost River Retreat! Island Park
is actually the world's largest crater, 23 miles in diameter, created
from a volcano which collapsed in prehistoric times. Now covered in a
dense forest of pine and wildflowers, it is a mecca for hiking &
fishing in summer and cross-country skiing & snowmobiling in winter. Only 30-40 minutes from Yellowstone National Park and minutes from some
of the best Blue Ribbon trout streams in the Country. There is so much
to do and see in and around Island Park. There are great trails for
hiking, mountain biking or riding 4 wheelers. During the winter the
snowmobiling is unsurpassed with over 500 miles of trails, you can even
ride from the cabin right into West Yellowstone. From the incredible
scenery of Mesa Falls and Big Springs to the abundant wildlife and
Yellowstone you will always have something to do. Or if you prefer
simply chill out and enjoy the hot tub and the cabin, sitting on over 2
acres and with no close neighbors you will have a private and relaxing
stay.
There are many great day trips including one of our favorites through
Yellowstone past Yellowstone Lake and down into Grand Teton National
Park passing the unbelievably beautiful Jackson Lake with the Tetons
towering over it and on to Jackson Hole for some great sightseeing,
shopping and food. Return via Victor and Driggs home of Grand Targhee
ski resort and the entire drive is worth a postcard.
